How many emails are too many

how-many-emails-should-i-send-rachelle-deem

My husband HATES the little numbers that show on applications on his iPhone screen and he will do anything and everything he can to get rid of them, even if that means deleting the application itself (I know...extreme right).

If you’re like him at all and get a little freaked out or frustrated by the numbers on your screen or counting unread emails in your inbox, then you’re probably going to want to look away…

But this is the number of unread emails in my private inbox (not my business ones).

I know that I’m not alone in this either...one of my daughters actually has 13,000+ unread in hers.

The point of this is to show how overwhelmed our inboxes are becoming and this is, in part, due to a trend that I’m seeing so often in the online business, and from some really big players in this field…

Daily emails.

Oh how they suck!

I struggle to get a weekly email out sometimes, due to both time constraints but also content restraints. It’s important to share loads of value in your emails so I have to question how much real value you can share with your audience if you’re emailing them EVERY DAY.

Are there even that many different areas in a niche that can equate to 365 emails (and that doesn’t include the launch sequences, open carts and all that promotional jazz)?

And some experts in the email marketing arena even advocate for multiple emails daily…

So it got me thinking…

How many emails are too many emails, and what is the sweet spot?

That sweet spot is going to be different based on your niche and your audience, what phase of business you’re in, whether visibility, engagement or selling.

But for me I’ve found this combination to work:

Someone joins my community (email or Facebook).

I’ll send them 5 emails over that first week with LOADS of value (free gifts galore)...

Then they go onto my main list, and I engage with that list around 3 times a month, unless I’m in a selling phase where I’ll ramp it up a bit. I always like to give people the option to say they don’t want to receive those particular selling emails at that time too, by giving them a one-click link to opt out of just those emails.

And that’s it…

I don’t want to be a burden to any one’s inbox. I don’t want to be one of the 10,000 emails that go unread because they’re either coming in CONSTANTLY, or they don’t give any VALUE.

I am so grateful to and appreciative of anyone that allows me to take up any space at all in their inbox...it’s coveted space and as an online business owner we should never underestimate how privileged we are to be firstly granted that space, but secondly to have the email opened.

So if I’m showing up in your inbox then please know I am so grateful that you’re allowing me a space in there.

So tell me, what do you think about daily emails...love em? Hate em?

How many emails do you send to your list each week or month…

And how many unread emails do you have in your inbox? Let me know that it’s not just me and my daughter with 5 figured unread emails, and share a screenshot of your number in the comments.
